US firms hurry to consider BYOD

A ‘cisco’ study shows most US firms are actually adopting “bring your personal device” (BYOD) schemes.

‘cisco’ surveyed 600 IT and business leaders and located 95 % of respondents stated their organisations allowed worker-owned devices at work. Laptop computer also discovered that 84 percent of firms provided BYOD company IT support.

“IT managers are balancing security and support concerns using the very real possibility to reap significant cost and productivity advantages of the BYOD trend”, stated ‘cisco’.

Over three-quarters (76 percent) of respondents stated BYOD was “somewhat or very positive for his or her companies”. Additionally, 40 % of respondents reported “device choice” as employees’ top BYOD priority, using the second BYOD priority to be the need to perform personal activities at the office, and work activities during personal time.


‘cisco’ estimates the annual company cash advantages of BYOD vary from $300 to $1,300 per worker, with respect to the employee’s job role.

Research from BT discovered that 82 % of companies across 11 countries allow their workers to create their very own devices to operate, or is going to do so over the following 2 yrs.
