iOS 7 to have AirDrop wireless file-sharing tool – report

Apple could be planning to introduce its AirDrop wireless sharing tool to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch with iOS 7, according to a new report.

9To5Mac cites sources familiar with the matter in its report that claims Apple is testing versions of iOS 7 that feature AirDrop capabilities currently found in Apple’s Mac products.

9To5Mac notes that Apple may not yet have made the final decision about whether the AirDrop feature will be released with the version of iOS 7 that is expected to be unveiled at WWDC on 10 June. See: What to expect from Apple at WWDC 2013

According to the sources, the version of iOS 7 currently being tested has the AirDrop feature integrated into the share menu, alongside the Mail, Message, Facebook, Twitter and Print options. It will enable users to share files between two iOS devices in close proximity with each other, and possibly between an iOS device and a Mac too.

The AirDrop feature has been present in Macs since the launch of OS X Lion in 2011.

iOS is believed to have undergone a design overhaul under the new leadership of Apple design guru Jony Ive, who is said to be pushing for a flatter, more minimalist design for the mobile operating system. See: More iOS 7 details emerge as 10 June unveiling approaches.

If you have been following this Kickstarter, Chris Taylor has regularly said that he was taking a big risk by doing a campaign that didn&1quo;t rely on nostalgia but he wanted to experiment. It&1quo;s pretty clear that high-budget games that don&1quo;t rely on this are rarely going to work, if ever.nCompare the Wildman campaign to the Planetary annihilation campaign from the other TA produce1. PA was all cgi demos, there was nothing real about it. The Wildman video updates actually showed the game being made, the philosophy behind the game and how they were building development tools from the ground up. Unfortunately, this was never seen by anyone who didnt dig deeper than the video on the front page. Hopefully if Chris Taylor gets another chance he&1quo;ll learn to put more in the original video, because that&1quo;s the extent of the internet&1quo;s attention span.
