‘The Podfather’ meets Winer – podcasts at beginning
A war has been staged in cyberspace between two men that claim these were the brains behind podcasting.
Dave Winer states he launched the very first podcasts in 2003 as he would be a fellow at Harvard Law School’s Berkman Center for the net & Society. He claims that former MTV music presenter Adam Curry, the person who produced the iPodder podcast directory, and explained Wired as “The Podfather”, copied him. Curry states Winer “just really wants to be famous”.
It may sound just like a situation of sour grapes. The 2 were once buddies and co-works, reveals The Boston Globe.
Winer told the paper he and Curry, and Curry’s affiliate Ron Blossom were supposed to setup a company partnership however that fell through. ”Then I heard these were entering business together. They stated they were not – that switched out to become a lie,” he stated.
“I began podcasting and that is if this required off. Everything they’re doing, they’re copying me,” claims Winer.
Adam Curry, that has just began hosting a Sirius satellite radio show dedicated to podcasts has counter attacked. He told his podcast audience: ”Dave discontinued on me within an incredibly hurtful manner. It is all about credit, who produced this, who produced that. What Dave accuses me to do is the fact that I did not provide him proper credit… You want to be famous, Dave, and you’re. It’s not necessary to go requesting credit constantly.”
